Pictionary anyone?

The company where I work can be a bit cuckoo. To uphold the work-life-balance values in its staff, they hold this Boardgames Challenge, where several boardgames categories are included for staff to participate and compete amongst the 4 teams, namely Java, Perl, Shredder and Foxpro (names of computer programmes, don't ask me why..). The games involved are Pictionary, Taboo, Chess, Scrabbles, Congkak, 5 Stones (batu seremban in Malay), Twister and Cranium. And I decided to join in the fun only in Pictionary (as that's the only game I thinkk I can make..*sneer*) Anyways, Pictionary is similar to Win Lose or Draw, if you've heard of that one. It's where u are to pick a card with a word on it, and draw that word, and your team members are to guess. The challenge is to draw/guess fastest against the other teams and time. Our team got to the finals, which will be this Tue *nervouss*. Wish us luck!

Saw the sun rise

My folks booked a trip to ChiangMai on Air Asia the otha day. Happens so, now all Air Asia flights take off from the new Low Cost Terminal (LCCT). So this morning I had the opportunity (hehe) to drive my folks all the way to the new terminal. And boy it's quite far but not too bad. It's not as big as the old Subang airport, but a lil more exclusive than a bus terminal lar..It was a nice smooth drive (it wass 6am watdya expect huh). And I saw the sun rise. Though it's cloudy, the sun rays still peeked through, resulting in fascinating orange background with cotton like clouds on it making it look subtle yet elegant.

Happy Birthday Dad

It was my dad's birthday the other day. Me and hubby had presented his gift previously. We got him an Ogawa handheld massager. And the following weekend, my sis-in-law decided to spring a surprise party for dad at home. We all chipped in with the food. And got him a small choc cake. The makans were the nicest. It was actually a 3-in-1 birthday celebration. Dad, Kak Faridah (my sis-in-law) and Alif (her daughter/my neph). Kak Faridah is the expert in finding good food (apart from cooking it herself). She bought curry noodle and fried mushrooms..Yummm.

UnguCliquer

I dunno what it is with bands from my neighboring country. They are just like a magnet. You listen, you watch, and you get hooked. They are definitely more attractive and interesting than bands from my country. I am generally very open to all types of music, if they can catch my attention, and has got a cool melody, deep lyrics and thumping bass/beat. I listen to all, but this one band (yet another) has pulled me in as one of their 'fans berat' (huge fan). Ungu (=purple) brings fun yet dark and contemporary rock music. Their lyrics are mostly teen social themed. Their music tempo some are fast and bangin, and some are slow and haunting. Similar to Peterpan (my first love to Indon band) but like a slightly younger genre. Pasha (in the mid with hands in his pockets in above photo) the vocalist caught my eyes because he is just (what else) cute. Another one which I dig is Enda (lead guitarist). I got to know about them from Peterpan (PP) vcd where Ungu was featured as one of PP's friends. And quite awhile after that I heard their song in the Indo Top Ten on astro. And even before I heard their music, I somehow know that I should watch out for them. And I was right! Ok, enuff..Just read about em yourself. www.unguband.com. Their latest album 'Melayang' (=flying) is great. I esp like 'Ciuman Pertama' (very rockin). And I'll get to watch em live at this concert I'm going to soon. Hurrah! Can't wait..

Indonerized

We were crazy enuff to brave the 80% Indonesian crowd which packed Stadium Merdeka for the erm..too embarassed to say Pesta Malam Indonesia. What were we thinkinngg? I dunno, coz of Ungu? Or or..Dewa maybe? YYuup! My latest fanatical obsession is on this Indonesian rock band called Ungu (malay for purple, hah..my fav color, perrfect name). And so with hubby dying to see Dewa, this other huge act fr the neighbor country who's been around for the past decade I think and have been producing awesome music with vocalist sounding like Queen. I was dying to see Dewa too. So 5 of us pushed, hurdled, sweated (?), screamed, jumped, rained out, cursed, head-banged, clapped and sang our lungs out to the most worthy concerts of all time. With 9 acts performing, it was a looooong afternoon/evening/night. Spose to start at 3pm, we were barely in the stadium compounds at that time, still pushing our way through the (not-so-pearly) gates. Let me sneak a boo-boo to Hotlink as the organiser. Not very organised. But I dunno if I blame 'em as this was a huge event which involved people who aren't necessarily civilised. But still..they should've measured the expectations and prepared for it. And our RELA squad. Quite a useless bunch. Especially failing to prevent the people from the upper zone to crash in the VIP zone. Anyhow, we got in, ran to the stage, but rolled around on the grass. It was nice to be out (under the hot 3pm sun,..yeah right), nah
seriously, the environment almost felt like Woodstock, or what's the other one..Lollapalooza. Food/drinks vendor are all around the field. A few stalls selling souvenirs. And space, wiiide open space infront of the stage. Press and live coverage video cameras. One that impresses me are the ones on the crane, where it moves the camera across the audience. So fast and so low, it can almost knock a six footer's head. As we hung out, munch on some cold soggy burgers and drank our icy cold sour plum and watermelon juice, we started to get restless. The first band 'Ada Band' started the show. (They always let the least famous one to go first, and climax with the biggest act). Hey the least famous band was good lah. The vocalist was powerful, and the performance was overall cool and like they've been doing this forever. After that band is done on stage, we had to wait for almost 30mins for the next one to be ready. That's quite tiring. But the next band is my UNGU!!!! Cun gila. I pulled my friend's arm to the front (err..yup forgotten bout hubby and the other two who're not so crazy bout the purple band). And we jumped to my fav songs. Ah..and Pasha is so cute..After that Coklat, Gigi, Padi, Ratu (borring), appearances by Audy (whatever), Rossa (wooo..) and Ari Lasso (argh!). And last but NOT LEAST was Dewa, which gave the most powerful performance of all. Closed my eyes, I thought I was listening to their CD, but it was LIVE! So clear and precise. Through the concert, being an outdoor stadium and KL's weather, the rain poured (with occassional thunders and lightnings) at about 6pm. It became dark, ground became swampy, but the atmosphere became more..I dunno..fun. Maybe coz of the amazing colors in the sky, they shot a few fireworks, and the air being cool and breezy. We continued to party in our raincoats and wet pants. Aside from the many baboons in the crowd, it was a night of fun with really great music. My hubby and I rode the train back all grinning, despite being covered in mud and smelling like dirt.

Purple and Pink

I am lucky to have a dad with extremely green hands. Our backyard is full with fruit trees, flower plants, cactus and orchids. And recently our honey guava fruit trees blossomed with riping pink ones. It's best eaten with the rojak sauce. And that week we finished the whole tree..with a few days stomach ache for me..(too much rojak sauce..gosh I love that thing). Adding to that, the orchids are in bloom too! I especially love these purple ones...

Marcell ku

My latest object of affection is this Indonesion R&B hunk Marcell....He used to have afro hair and was thinner with waif-like posture, but he has improved baby! Ok I had to separate his head and his body, because I had to trim the picture which had a girl by his side..grrrr...

My Secret Garden

I was at home one afternoon, and realize, I haven't been out in our backyard for awhile. Remembering seeing colorful flowers when I drive back from work, I've been meaning to stop by and smell the roses (..altho there are no roses literally). I know this sounds pathetic, as it shows how much I lock myself in the house whenever I am home, because at other times I'll be off to work, or running errands elsewhere. It was nice and breezy out that day, and having my nephews around made it even more cool. It was a lovely sight. White, yellow and orange appears from a seabed of greenery. I couldn't resist, and snapped some from my phone camera. The blurry photo was snapped by 6 year old Eiman..not bad eh! At least my head was not cut off
:-D

Weekend Spendings

My life basically revolves around my weekends. Unless I'm on call, my weekend will defintely be filled with fruitful activities (or at least I try..). Recent weekend I had spent my money on one project which I had been planning for awhile. And that is to tint my car. Wohoo, after it's done, the glass a little mirror-like from the outside, so it'd be easy to check my hair after getting outta the car..yess. Oh while waiting for the car to be ready, I got bored at the workshop. Thankfully my salon is nearby, so dropped in and had a wash and trim :-) So me and my car was lookinn goood that day.

The following evening, was cruising/testing/showing off time. So we head to KLCC to catch a movie after a quick dine-in at where else Gloria Jeans..My meal was non other than the spicy chicken and mushroom pasta. And the movie was Ice Age2, which was hilarious!
