M & M

Got a taste of M & M the other day. Mariott Hotel and Moussandra Tapas Rstrnt that is. Mariott, coz a gal pal had in-house training at the hotel (so lucky!), and Moussandra, we dragged her to belanja us dinner there which is nearby. Yee haaa.. A fabolous evening. Mariott room of course is awesome. Soft and thick comforters and pillows. Sparkling bathroom marbles, and she has a fantastic view of Jln BB at her window. Heaven. Moussandra in KL Plaza is a different dining experience for me. For one, the place makes me feel I'm in Mexico. Nice, creative interior, with a touch of rustic and dark feel to it. The food? I loved the cheese finger tapas, others which we ordered were so-so..nothing to shout about. We ordered soft crab tapas..omg..so salty we couldn't barely finished it..eck.. The Paela was so much like fried rice..maybe worst..Again, another rstrnt which only stresses on its decor, but not so much on the food..

Together again

My dearest pal from college has been living in Melbourne since about a year ago. She came home this past few weeks for holiday. I was so excited and extremely thrilled. Tried to spend every moment hanging out with her, but of course she have other friends and especially family to meet as well *grin*. But the time we were together (awww...) we always have a blast. Her mat salleh roomie came down to visit KL too. And she just absolutely loves KL (hah..how bout that). So we were tourist guides/tourist ourselves (haha) for Magda for the one week she was here. I've never met someone so fascinated with our mosques, but yeah she is. I guess the architecturial design of our mosques are pretty fabolous altho similar to the ones in Saudi Arabia. Anyway, we actually went IN Masjid Negara. Ok embarassingly enuff I have to admit I have NEVER masuk inside our national mosque. We three gals were given graduate robes (hehe..memang macam, tau) and scarves to cover our bod and head. Magda laughed and said we look like 'babushkas'..= old lady yang dah bongkok tiga. Ohh goodie. But I was impressed. It is very peaceful in there. I couldn't solat..coz it's that time of the month, so regretfully I was also like the gals, walking about taking pics. Before national mosque, we visited the Islamic Art center. Extremely quiet..altho it was a public holiday that day. Quiet interesting artifacts. What I dragged was no photos allowed inside. What? I was deprived in there, like a drug addict itching to press that button on my camera. And then I did..I curi2 took a few. And my pal saw a few surveillance cameras following our every move. And after a few moments, we noticed 3 staff hung around wherever we are..watching and following us. Arkk..Well we were done with the museum after that. Stepped out, and was ready to go makannn. That evening we makan-ed at Nelayan Titiwangsa Rstnt. Ark..jam gila..those ppl going nuts over the Eye On Msia ferris wheel..*rolling eyes*. It was a nitemare finding parking, but we did at last, and dinner was nice..Magda get to see the cultural show (the last 2 dance routine at least)..phewh.
Our next excursion was KLCC skybridge.
Yes..after KLCC has been up for I dunno how many years, I still have not gone up there. (And probably not the only one..eh) So..picked up my girlies, head over to KLCC. We were lucky that we had the bridge ticket booked in advance so we didn't have to get in line for tickets. And a 'bridge host' welcomed us with such VIP treatment, thanks to HS and her connections! Sadly, the elevator to bring us up, was quite worn out..Once we were up there, it almost felt like we were floating. So high and above it all. KL does look magnificent. Too bad 10mins is the time limit. Then we shoot down, and stopped to makan nasi lemak, and some malay kuihs at La Cucur. Omg..I should makan there more often, the nasi lemak is quite good lah...Then we hopped on Putra LRT and shoot to Pasar Seni or Central Market. Upon arrival, a horrid stench creeped at us, oh that river stinks! Ark..How embarassing. CM as always are colorful and busy. But inside, it's a lil more quiet and calm. We walked all over. Magda looking for batiks and postcards, and everything's nice. Then we sat and had desserts and appetizers! Cendol, ais kacang, sago, top hats, and what else I can't remember. After we're full and refreshed, we walked out to hop back on the LRT. But wait, there was a traditional dance performance on the stage set outside CM. Hey cool, young gals dancing Indian and Malay dance. Magda shot a vid of it of course. Back in lrt to KLCC. Drove back. Great day.
The next outing was dinner at Bijan.
This is suppose-ingly a fine dining Malay restaurant in Changkat Bukit Bintang. The parking is horrendous..unless you willing to pay RM5 in the next door parking lot. It has nice ambience, very authentic, dark and cosy. The weather was breezy and cool which helped to set the mood right for good food and nice company. Met a few new friends. The food was so-so (argh! authentic rstrnts are always not great on food, they just focus on surroundings and decors). A rip off to foreigners I think, but what the heck, at least I've tried. It is one of those places, where they made the lightings so dim that you can't see what you're eating. So I didn't know which was ginger and which was chicken pieces in our dish..haha.
My next excursion, this time only with dear milli..Was for makan and movie. Wohoo we had Japanese. We opted for Sakae Sushi jap rstrnt along the Curve food street.
The service was baad, the food ok2. The order method is very impressive lahh. We order from this screen (which exist at every table). No, you can't surf the web there haha. This fried beef dish we ordered was to die for..almost licked the plate. Other orders was a bit dissapointing. Selection of sushi on the sushi belt are pretty sad too..And some of the sushi does not look fresh. Anywayyy after walking around it was finally time to catch our movie. And we watch one awesome lovey dovey show 'The Holiday'! Love Jude Law, love Kate Winslet, love Cameron, and Jack Black is so adorable. Yeah, it's a movie that gives u a warm and fuzzy feelin inside. I was tingling all over, and have a new sense of hope in love as we walked out of the cinema. Haha.
Then it was the last day/time I were to hang out with HS..Arghh hate goodbyes. But did it, along with some tears..sob, sob. Even if it's just a few hangouts, it's been AWESOME. Will miz u LOTS babe..TIll our next hangout! Luv u always..

Short notice birthday

You've heard of belated birthday, surprise birthday and etc, my family created a new tradition; Short Notice Birthday. Mak Long called me the other day reminding that it's uncle Mufti's birthday that following weekend, and she was wondering if we should get together and celebrate. I said, yeah sounds great. I convey it to mom, who pbbly was a lil busy that weekend so she didn't give an answer right away. Friday came, that evening mom told me, the family has decided to do a makan2 gathering the afternoon to celebrate uncle's birthday, and I was to buy the birthday cake. Yikes..Well it was all good, Mak Long was to cook some rice dishes as it was a lunch celebration. I quickly got the cake on Sat morning, and was happy with my choice.
It turned out to be a laid-back, but very delicious makan2 gathering. As always, Kak Faridah whipped up a few goodies as well. She brought bubur kacang merah yang sungguh sedap sekali..Let there be more birthdays celebration to come..Amin..
